Set the scene

  • Proportioned Number Blocks 1–10
  • A flat surface

Works beautifully with: Number Blocks.

An invitation to play

  1. Place the ten block beside two smaller number blocks. Line up their bases and compare their heights.
  2. Try pairs such as one and nine, two and eight, or three and seven. Stack each pair beside ten.
  3. Name the equation together. Let your child choose another combination to test.

A LITTLE QUESTION TO OPEN THINGS UP

“Can you find a different way to make the same height?”

Let it grow

Choose a smaller target, such as five or six. Find all the pairs that make it, then draw or write your discoveries.

Follow the age guidance on your product packaging. Use only age-appropriate pieces and supervise play. Keep small parts away from children under 3.
